Our Initiatives
-
Congregations as well as local businesses in Clemmons collect adult and children’s coloring books, markers and colored pencils, fidget toys, composition books and journals for guidance counselors and school social workers to provide to students struggling with anxiety.
-
School social workers request travel-size items for students who need hygiene products which can be discretely put in their backpacks.. Congregations, as well as local businesses, also donate money to purchase full-size items for when the social workers do home visits.
-
While many churches do their own school supply collections, CLASS provides knowledge of specific items that schools request, such as headphones, earbuds, hand sanitizer, Lysol wipes, etc.
In Spring 2022, the churches of Lewisville combined resources to fill a list of “unconventional” items requested by Lewisville school social workers, that typically they have to purchase with their own money. These items included hair ties, safety pins, glasses repair kits, feminine products, draw-string backpacks, headphones and more.
In August 2022, CLASS partnered with the churches of Lewisville to organize a school supply collection during the “Back To School Block Party.” Over 1,000 items were donated to the schools!

CLASS reaches out to our faith community and community-at-large to encourage, train and fulfill volunteer needs for on-site mentoring programs, as well as one time events, such as Teacher/Staff Appreciation events, Back to School community events and other family community events.
